Finnish Centre for Health Promotion
The object of the Finnish Centre for Health Promotion, also known as Tekry, is to get the whole community to support health. We want to develop the conditions of daily life so that they promote health, working in collaboration with our member organisations and other actors in the field.
The main emphasis of our operations is on creating health-promoting choices. Public health is largely determined by issues beyond the scope of public health care: lifestyles, employment, educational possibilities, wealth, security, and participation. The object of the promotion of health is to affect these factors.

Operations, by field:
We perform policy and advisory work related to socio-political decisions and to political issues concerning health promotion.
We strengthen co-operation between NGO:s and other actors by co-ordinating operations and by contributing actively to the operations of various networks.
We produce and supply information for experts, decision-makers, and the media by providing reports and organising training and various other types of events.
We develop and evaluate quality in health promotion and its practical effects by offering evaluation services and by increasing organisations’ expertise in evaluative activities.
